Webinar: Harmony or divergence? Effective judicial protection as concepts of EU and UK law

22 April 2021

On Tuesday 13th April, 9 Bedford Row, 3 Raymond Buildings, and Brick Court Chambers held a webinar on the right to effective judicial protection in the EU and UK after the CJEU case of PI v Svishtov Regional Prosecutor’s Office (C-648/20 PPU).

The webinar was moderated by Joshua Kern (9 Bedford Row), who acted as junior counsel in PI.

Helen Malcolm QC (3 Raymond Buildings), counsel for PI before the CJEU, provided a criminal and extradition lawyer’s perspective. Fergus Randolph QC (Brick Court) provided a civil practitioner’s perspective, and Rachel Barnes (3 Raymond Buildings) assessed the concept under sanctions law, and the potential implications as the UK develops an independent sanctions policy.

A recording of the webinar is available here.
