Joey Kwong successfully prosecutes Lutterworth arsonist

05 October 2021

Joey Kwong successfully prosecuted the trial of Mr Lodge for Arson with intent to endanger life.

In the early hours of the morning, the defendant set fire to the empty caravan of his ex-partner.  The fire rapidly spread and consumed a nearby caravan and a static mobile home where the victim’s brother, his wife and their four young children were sleeping.  The family thankfully woke up and escaped to safety.

The Crown case was that this was a planned and calculated attack, driven by the anger and jealousy of Mr Lodge who wanted revenge upon his ex-partner by endangering the lives of her family. The jury unanimously convicted the defendant.

Mr Lodge was found to be dangerous and was sentenced to an extended sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment, with a custodial term of 12 years and an extended licence period of 3 years.
