Jessica Clarke secures acquittal for client charged with murder

05 November 2020

Jessica Clarke, led by Edward Henry QC, represented the defendant in a four and a half week trial, in which he was accused of murdering his girlfriend before setting fire to her body to destroy the evidence.

The defence exposed that vital toxicology tests had not been performed or falsely claimed to have been done, which might have substantiated the defendant's claim that he had woken up to find his girlfriend ablaze next to him in bed. Five prosecution experts were deconstructed by the defence before the defendant was called. The jury acquitted in less than 2.5 hours.

Counsel were instructed by Mr Goldan Lambert of Raj Law Solicitors.
