R v Bibi – neglect of vulnerable adult. Son of the family murdered his new bride, who had recently arrrived from Pakistan. The family was charged with the neglect following the son's conviction for murder. First case of its kind. R v Gill – historic rape. R v Garner – case relating to tax evasion, Crown's case being bogus companies were set up, monies passed through in order to avoid paying tax for doormen across the country. R v Ali – large-scale counterfeit drugs, including Viagra, Lipitor etc. Multinational dealing counterfeit drugs, produced in China, sourced in Pakistan, routed through Switzerland and Germany, and finally sold to pharmacies on the UK High Street. R v Aslam – multi-property mortgage fraud, over a £1M having been obtained from high street banks. The money was converted into gold bullion and thereafter disposed of without trace. R v Ierton – 7-handed murder, reported in the national press as a knifing of a man in his own home in error. R v Phan – large-scale cultivation of cannabis, cultivation taking place in normal houses using high-powered lights etc. The funds were said to have been laundered through nail bars throughout the country. Notable Cases Iraqi hijacking case at Stansted: Hussein and others. Abbey National fraud: One of the longest running fraud trials (9 months at Central Criminal Court). Defended in the case of a burnt body of boy in Wembley: (4-handed murder, 7 months at Central Criminal Court). Large scale money laundering and drug cases: (12 defendants). Cakir 200 kg heroin. Early Snakehead cases and a number of Triad cases including 25 handed conspiracy to murder.
